Vietnam: 4 students drown in river


(MENAFN) Vietnam News Agency revealed that 4 junior school pupils from Vietnam's northern Lao Cai province have died while swimming in a local stream on Saturday.

Six students in the sixth grade of Quang Kim junior high school in Bat Xat district went into the water in the nearby stream on Saturday afternoon.

Spotting one student was about to drown, three more swam closer to save him, however, all of the four eventually drowned in the river.

An official from the World Health Organization in Vietnam confirmed: "Drowning is a silent epidemic claiming more than 2,000 children's lives per year in Vietnam".
