Russia: Syrian forces ceasefire unilaterally in Idlib

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MOSCOW, May 19 (KUNA) -- The Russian Defense Ministry on Sunday said the Syrian Forces ceased fire unilaterally as of yesterday midnight in Idlib.
A statement by the Defense Ministry said the armed groups continued, despite the ceasefire, their attack on the Syrian forces and civilian neighborhoods of Hama, Latakia, and Aleppo injuring three Syrian soldiers.
The armed groups used rockets in these attacks, which is "a violation to the Sochi agreement sponsored and signed by Turkey and Russia in September of 2018," said the ministry.
A Russian-Turkish group held meetings in Ankara in the past days in order to contain escalation in the deconflicting zone in Idlib. (end)
