Bulgaria confiscates huge amount of illegal hookah tobacco

(MENAFN) The National Customs Agency (NCA) declared that Bulgarian authorities have seized two batches of unidentified hookah tobacco with a total weight of 30 tons.

The first batch, divided into 14,256 packages weighing 1 kg each, was found after an X-ray test of a Moldova-recorded truck when it was departing Bulgaria at Danube Bridge checkpoint near the town of Vidin at the border with Romania.

It confirmed that the two drivers, one with Portuguese and the other with Albanian identity documents, lied about shifting dried fruit to Western Europe.

The authorities announced that the truck had been packed in an illegal warehouse in Sofia and discovered 15,744 kg of unknown hookah tobacco there.
