Jealous man murders 'girlfriend' in UAE


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Abu Dhabi Cassation Court has upheld the ruling of the Appeal Court that sentenced an Asian man to seven years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend, after she broke up with him, according to local media reports. According to case documents, authorities received a report regarding a crime in which an Asian woman was murdered. An investigation carried out by authorities let to the identification of the murderer and his eventual arrest by the police.

Police recovered the knife he used to kill the woman, and some drugs from him.

During the investigation, he confessed to the crime, saying that he had an 'illegitimate' relationship with the woman since three months, before she suddenly broke up with him to pursue a relationship with another man.

They had argued over the matter, after which he planned to kill her as he was jealous of her relationship with a colleague, he added.

The public prosecution stated that the man tricked the woman into visiting his residence, and used a knife to slit her throat along with stabbing her body all over multiple times.

The court of first instance sentenced him to seven years in prison.

He challenged the ruling before the appeal court, which was upheld.

His appeal before the Cassation court was rejected.
