Qatar- Education Above All launches fundraising campaign
Doha: Education Above All (EAA) Foundation has launched a campaign to raise funds during the Holy month of Ramadan with an aim to provide quality education to marginalised children around the world.
The campaign being held for the second year under the theme ‘No Child Left Out' aims to raise a minimum of QR 15m and will support EAA's projects and help out of school children in several countries including in Qatar, officials said yesterday.
The collected funds will assist projects implemented by EAA's programmes ‑ Educate A Child (EAC) and Reach Out To Asia (ROTA) ‑ in countries including Somalia, Gaza, Lebanon, Turkey, Mali, Pakistan, Iraq and many others.
'The EAA Ramadan Campaign will target huge brand awareness of EAA and its global work across Qatar through different channels. Last year we aimed at raising QR10m and collected QR23m.
'This year we aim at raising minimum of QR15m and have a special focus on out of school children in Qatar, said Mohamed Al Naama, Senior Representative of Fundraising Department at EAA.
Prof Dr Ali M Al Qaradaghi, Secretary-General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and Vice Chairman for European Council for Fatwa and Research, said, 'Zakat and Sadaqah hold extreme importance in empowering underprivileged. And EAA Foundation is eligible to receive Sadaqah and Zakat donations.
The EAA's Ramadan Campaign will raise awareness about the challenges the world face in accessing quality education as well as collect donations at different locations across the country. EAA has partnered with Lulu hypermarkets, Marriot Hotels, ExxonMobil and Qatar Airways for raising awareness. Ooredoo, Nakilat, W Hotel, QAPCO, Shell, Carrefour, ELAN, Dar Al Sharq, Qatar TV, Muntajat and Dar Al Arab are also supporting the initiative.
Donations can be made through donation boxes at 60 locations including shopping malls and public places.
Payments can also be made by contacting +974 44542288, or visiting the EAA website: donateducationaboveall.org or sending an SMS at 92016 to donate QR10, and at 92087 to donate QR100. Donations can be made through credit card, cheques, or through Ooredoo Mobile Money Account.
On May 15, Qatar TV will air a special episode during its programme Hayatuna for EAA's fundraising campaign. The campaign will also be covered on Qatar radio on Layali Ramadan programme.
EAA through its projects provides and increases access to educational facilities, projects and resources; improves the quality of education and engages youth as leaders in defining and advocating for innovative solutions.
