KABUL: The US Special Envoy for Afghanistan Reconciliation
who just wrapped up meeting in Pakistan, said he held talks with Indonesia
Foreign Minister Retno Marsuid, discussing Afghan peace process.
Taliban group in a statement too said their political leader
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, along with his team, met FM Marsudi, and they exchanged
views about peaceful resolution to the Afghan issue and ongoing talks between
the negotiation teams of Taliban and US.
Moreover, those points were also identified that caused the
cancellation of intra-Afghan conference in Doha, Taliban said in a statement on
Wednesday.
Both sides urged maintaining bilateral ties and contacts
regarding resolution of the Afghan issue.
'The Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs assured
assistance and playing a positive role in resolving the Afghan issue if needed
and expressed hope that the Afghan issue finds a speedy logical resolution.'
'Ahead of talks in Doha, had met with Indonesian FM. Very
much appreciate her support for the Afghan peace process and compelling offer
of assistant,' Khalilzad said in a tweet message. Indonesia is uniquely poised
to contribute, the messaged added.
Before to flee to Qatar, Khalilzad said he wrapped up a
visit to Islamabad where the country supports efforts to accelerate
intra-Afghan dialogue and negotiations, and is committed to helping reduce
violence in Afghanistan. 'Everyone I saw recognizes the benefit peace will
bring to the region.'
Peace efforts by US Envoy Khalilzad is all going well with
many visits to many countries in order to find a collective voice for peace to
end war.
However, Taliban has recently mocked over 250-member
delegation assigned by Kabul government to carry talks with Taliban in Doha.
Taliban rejected meeting them, saying it is a formal talk in one of gulf
country not a wedding party in one of hotels in Kabul.
So far there is no clue when or in which country the second
intra-Afghan talks, after successfully conduction of Moscow get-together, will
be called.
