12 dead after floods in Colombia


(MENAFN) Marquez ordered all municipal and regional administrations to set emergency plans and prepare for probable protective evacuations.

Continues rainfall has triggered floods, which left 12 people dead in Colombia and over 1,000 displaced.

Carlos Ivan Marquez Perez, director general of the National Unit for Risk Management, declared that "flood alerts (have been issued) in the sectors surrounding the Magdalena, Cauca and Atrato rivers."

He added: "do not let your guard down, you always have to maintain prevention and care mechanisms."
