(MENAFN- PRLog) Arctic Encounter is putting on their 6th Annual Flagship Symposium at the Bell Harbor International conference Center in Seattle, Washington from April 25-26, 2019. The event is the largest annual Arctic policy and business convening in the United States, featuring over 70 speakers from Arctic nations and interested parties, including several U.S. senators and representatives, the former President of Iceland, the Ambassador of Finland to the U.S., the Premier of the Northwest Territories in Canada, military officials, leading scientists, local government, business executives, academic experts, and many more. Registration for the event closes tonight, April 19, at 4:00 PM PST.
Arctic Encounter Symposium is comprised of keynote addresses, lectures, and breakout sessions on topics such as public policy, scientific knowledge, technological innovation, maritime issues, and energy concerns. Some session titles include Climate & Environmental Innovation, Disruptive Entrepreneurship in the Arctic, and International Borders in the North American Arctic: Implications for Indigenous Communities. Cultural performances and Arctic art exhibits will also be a part of the production.
The Arctic Encounter Symposia exist to confront the shared interests and concerns of the United States and the global community as we look north to the last emerging frontier, the Arctic. The goal is to challenge the status quo dialogue, critically address challenges, and collaborate on solutions. Although it is a convening of some of the biggest changemakers in the Arctic community at present, Arctic Encounter is open to all and seeks to provide a platform for everyone who wants to join the conversation.
"What makes this year's event different is the focus on bringing in the artists and innovators from and influenced by the Arctic to have conversations with the policy makers and business people," says Creative Development Coordinator Caroline Humphreys, "It takes all of these unique perspectives to actually achieve the 'Arctic encounter' we want to create for participants."
Arctic Encounter is an Alaska-based non-profit founded by Kallander & Associates LLC, an Alaskan public policy consulting company. When the United States purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867, the U.S. became one of eight Arctic nations. Today, Alaskan politicians, scientists, and businesspeople are breaking ground for their fellow Americans and the world by engaging the Arctic community in collaboration on Arctic challenges and opportunities.
