Turkish security forces detain over 1,220 illegal migrants in several parts of country
(MENAFN) On Friday, as many as 1,227 illegal migrants were detained across Turkey, according to security sources.
In the northwestern Edirne province - bordering Greece and Bulgaria - gendarmerie forces arrested nearly 287 migrants, emphasized a source, on condition of secrecy due to restrictions on talking to the media.
In the meantime, police rounded up around 496 illegal migrants in the same province when they were attempting to unlawfully cross to Bulgaria.
In northwestern Kirklareli province, gendarmerie forces arrested 43 irregular migrants during regular patrols, another source affirmed.
