Poroshenko: 2,955 Ukrainian soldiers killed during Russian aggression


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) A total of 2,955 Ukrainian servicemen have been killed over the period of Russian aggression against Ukraine, President Petro Poroshenko has said.

The president stated this in his speechat a meeting of the Regional Development Council in Rivne region, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

'A total of 2,955 Ukrainian soldiers (including one serviceman was killed last night) have given their lives so that we could build a free and independent state, Poroshenko said.

According to the president, there are Russian divisions along the Ukrainian-Russian border, and they are ready for the invasion. Shelling and provocations on the front line occur daily.

He stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not accept the fact that Ukraine had been consistently breaking all his plans for the last five years.

'We have gone far on the European path and every step of Ukraine in this direction is Putin's defeat, Poroshenko noted.
