Amman, Mar. 13 (Petra) - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, on Wednesday received a delegation from the Chinese SDIC Group, which owns 28 percent of the Arab Potash Company (APC), after it bought shares of Canadian company, Potashcorp, last year in a deal worth more than $500 million.

During a meeting with the Chinese SDIC Group's delegation, headed by its Chairman, Shi Hongyang, in the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zwati, Razzaz welcomed the company as a strategic partner in the APC, one of the most important industrial companies in the Kingdom and has a distinct performance.

The premier expressed his confidence that SDIC Group's partnership with the APC will contribute to the development of the value-added potash-based specialty fertilizer industries that enhance APC's global standing, increase its competitiveness and contribute to new job opportunities for Jordanians.

Razzaz presented a number of projects available for investment in the Kingdom in vital sectors, such as energy and transport and voiced the government's appreciation for SDIC Group's new investments in the country.

For his part, SDIC's chairman, Shi Hongyang, said the group, which has more than 1,000 investment projects around the world, is interested in the investment opportunities available in Jordan because of its attractive investor environment and geographical location.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the company's plans to increase quantities of potash production in the Dead Sea, the production of specialized fertilizers and the creation of export markets for them, and Razzaz expressed support for these schemes.

In case production quantities increase, Arab Potash Company will expand the establishment of fertilizer companies.
