Wet Nelly Lotus from 'The Spy Who Loved Me' Offered for Sale on eBay

(MENAFN- PRLog) With very little fanfare, the Orlando Auto Museum is offering for sale its "Bond-mobile", a 1976 Lotus Submarine Car made famous in the James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me.'

Next to the coveted 1964 Aston Martin DB5 used in "Goldfinger", the submarine car—nicknamed "Wet Nelly" might be the most famous Bond ride. The car helped Roger Moore and actress Barbara Bach escape a marauding helicopter by jumping off a pier and turning into a submarine.

Interestingly, the auction for the Lotus on eBay is very nondescript, and gives virtually no information about the car. The Orlando Auto Museum didn't immediately reply to emails inquiring about the authenticity of the car.

Reportedly, eight different versions of the Lotus Esprit were actually used in the movie.

The value of this Lotus is anyone's guess. The auction ends on Friday at 9:23 a.m., and as of Tuesday evening, there had been only 2 bids and the "reserve price" had not been met.

Ebay does not require sellers to disclose reserve prices so it unclear what auction price the museum is seeking.
