(MENAFN) An official from the Public Health Department declared that the escalating measles outbreak has left about 1,300 patients with one victim through Myanmar as of mid-February this year.
In early February, a child under 5 years old has succumbed to encephalitis, a complication of the measles in Mandalay region.
Dr. Aung Naing Oo, assistant director of the Central Extended Immunization Division under the Public Health Department confirmed that 50 percent of the nationwide patients were in the Yangon region over the bad complete immunization coverage in some townships.
The outbreak majorly took place in townships, Hlaingthayar, Shwepyithar, Dagon Seikkan and South Dagon in Yangon.
