KABUL: A recent survey conducted by the Independent Joint Anti-Corruption
Monitoring and Evaluating Committee (IJACMEC) shows that administrative
corruption in the interior ministry has affected its procurement process.
According to the survey, weak coordination, lack of
transparency, lack of the personal data, lack of attention for retirement
process and interference in some powerful officials in appointing process of
national police have affected the procurement process in the ministry.
Bari Salam, head of the IJACMEC on Tuesday called the
current policy and strategy of interior ministry was the main issue in the
survey.
'We have investigated about many issues in the ministry of
interior. We were witnessed of some the powerful individuals' interference but
as our focus is on the system and process, I don't want to mention their names,'
he said.
The survey took one year to release.
The IJAMEC has offered investigation of management,
administrative implementation, retirement process, electronic system in the
human resources process for countering the corruption in the interior ministry.
The remarks come as the Pentagon had earlier accused the interior
ministry of corruptions.
Also, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan
Reconstruction (SIGAR) claims that millions of dollars were wasted because of
lack of investigation and weak management in the defense and interior
ministries.
