Survey: 1 out of 5 minors face harassment in Greece

(MENAFN) Greek national news agency AMNA declared that one out of five children in Greece face some type of abuse, according to a survey revealed at a forensics seminar.

Experts explained that the majority of assailants are male aged 30 years or above, who in 70-90 percent among the cases involve the family's circle of friends and family who are taken as "above suspicion".

They added that there is a spike in the toll of cases involving physical and sexual abuse of children reported in Greece, in addition to the toll of such incidents notified to authorities, as both parents and children are better told and acknowledged of these problems.

Leader of Piraeus Forensic Service, Ilias Bogiokas confirmed: "In the past ten years, especially during the years of the economic crisis, an increase in child abuse has been recorded."
