Kuwait celebrates National Day

São Paulo – The Kuwaitian embassy in Brazil celebrated last Friday (22) the country's National Day, officially commemorated this Monday (25). The ambassador Nasser Riden Al Motairi (picture above) received around 500 guests for a dinner party in the Dunya City Hall, in Brasília. Brazilian authorities, diplomats, and other guests were present. The day celebrates the 58 years of independence from the United Kingdom and 28 years of the liberation from Iraq.
'Kuwait sees Brazil as a country with a huge economic potential and there is a serious intention to promote economic and trade cooperation and increase Kuwaitian direct investments in Brazil and benefit from the mutual experiences of both countries in raising the bar of bilateral relations,' said Motairi in his speech. According to him, Kuwait is a country committed to create bridges of cooperation with every country in the world.
Among the guests were senator and former Brazilian president Fernando Collor de Mello, senator Izalci Lucas, Distrito Federal vice-governor Paco Brito and his wife Ana Paula Hoff, and the actress and peace ambassador Maria Paula Fidalgo. Arab and Brazilian dishes were served, and the guests received gifts from Kuwait.
According to material from the embassy, Kuwait is the country with the most valued currency in the world, one of the largest oil producers, having around 10% of the world reserves of the commodity. It is also one of the largest producers of natural gas in the world. The oil exploration encouraged migration flows and now foreigners are the majority of its population. Aiming to make the economy more flexible, its government has taken actions to attract international investments and developed cooperation with other countries.
