Number of fatalities from flu complications rises to 74 in Greece
According to the KEELPNO, 18 victims succumbed during the past seven days. Among them was a 55-year-old woman from Crete island who died on Wednesday from complications of the flu virus type AH1N1.
Experts underlined once again the significance of vaccination for people belonging to population segments at high risk of complications.
About 2.2 million vaccines have been imported to Greece from the beginning of the season and 50,000 more have been imported in the last few weeks.
Greece is still lagging below the 75 percent threshold which the WHO has set for the vaccination of people belonging to population parts at high risk of complications.
In the previous flu season 2017-2018, KEELPNO had recorded 42 fatalities, down from 108 in the winter season 2016-2017, according to the official data.
