Oman- Migrant workers to sing at musical talent show
A platform for migrant workers in Oman to showcase their talent, over 8,000 participants from 74 camps have so far registered for it, organisers said.
About the event, Ashwin Gedam, vice president of global marketing at Xpress Money, said, 'Blue-collar workers come to Oman with many hopes. They face many hardships and have to sacrifice their dreams. We try to give a platform to these lost dreams.'We were overwhelmed with the response we received for Dil Ki Awaaz - Season 1. What was launched as an opportunity for migrant workers to showcase their musical talent has now become a life-transforming opportunity for many.'
Dil Ki Awaaz is an event targeted specifically at South Asian communities at labour camps in the sultanate.Dil Ki Awaaz - Season 2 will culminate in a grand finale on March 22 at Qurm amphitheatre in the presence of Bollywood celebrities Bappi Lahiri and Shibani Kashyap who will judge the finals and choose the top three winners.
The winner of the first prize will receive RO1,000, while the second and third-placed winners will take home RO750 and RO500 respectively.Besides the prize money, the winner also gets a chance to release an album of his own. After a rigorous audition process, the top 20 finalists will be selected in the first week of March. These finalists will be trained by a panel of judges to sing in the grand finale in the presence of a live audience.
Plans for the event in the future include expanding it to have housemaids too participating in it, the organisers said.
