(MENAFN) On Tuesday, two security personnel were murdered in an attack by suspected IS militants in Iraq's northern Nineveh, according to a local military officer.
Daesh terrorists attacked a security checkpoint on a public road in Al-Qayyarah sub-district in the province, Colonel Ahmed al-Jabouri informed Anadolu Agency.
He emphasized that security forces fought back the assailants, murder four terrorists, while the others escaped the scene unharmed.
In December 2017, officials in Baghdad announced that Daesh's military existence in Iraq had been all but dismantled after operations backed by the U.S.-led International Alliance.
