Turkey says drugs benefit PKK in USD1.5b per year

(MENAFN) PKK militants are profiting from USD1.5 billion which are coming from drugs per year, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu unveiled.

Terrorism and drugs have joined hands, warned the Turkish minister during the Fight With Narcotic Crimes Evaluation Meeting.

Soylu stressed: "the revenue PKK earns from drugs annually is $1.5 billion [...] PKK is an organization [involved in] human smuggling and drug trafficking. Even the U.S. has confessed this reality in official reports."

He added that "terror opens space for drugs and provides logistical facilities to it. Drugs, on the other hand, provide finances to terror."
