Beirut, Jan. 20 (Petra) - Hundreds of Lebanese protestors took to the streets of Beirut Sunday to protest economic policies and worsening living conditions.

The demonstrations, which coincided with the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit deliberations, saw the participation of a number of Lebanese political, and civil society powers.

The protestors called on ending squandering public money, solving the medical care dilemma, environmental pollution, and "dubious" electricity, energy and environment deals.

The demonstrators also demanded a fair tax policy, promotion of state education, health insurance for all, and "elderly" pension.

Additionally, they called for creating employment opportunities, reinforcing role of the supervisory bodies, and protecting freedom of speech and expression.
