India- Razzaz says gov't committed to establishing comprehensive healthcare system


(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz on Saturday said that the government is committed to realising comprehensive health insurance, which comes in line with Royal Directives for establishing a sustainable and fair healthcare system.

During a meeting, titled 'Practical Steps to Realising a Comprehensive Health Insurance', which was organised by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with World Health Organisation, Razzaz stressed the need for establishing a fair and sustainable healthcare system. He also pointed out the difference between comprehensive health coverage and health insurance.

The meeting aimed at discussing health finance strategies, which contribute to implementing a comprehensive healthcare system, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The premier also voiced his appreciation of Jordan's health sector, adding that the government will adopt the meeting's recommendations to begin work on comprehensive healthcare coverage before the end of 2019.

The meeting was held as part of Jordan's ratification of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Health Minister Ghazi Zaben affirmed the importance of ongoing dialogue between medical institutions and partners to build a consistent healthcare system.

He also highlighted the ministry's keenness to achieve comprehensive health coverage for all citizens, adding that achieving comprehensive coverage necessitates more financial support to the health sector.
