Diplomatic Corps commends Angola's defence of world peace


(MENAFN- EIN) Luanda, ANGOLA, January 19 - The Diplomatic Corps accredited in Angola last Friday, in Luanda, commended this African country?s authorities on their stance in favour of world peace and democracy, as well as in condemnation of racism, xenophobia and other types of discrimination.,

The dean of ambassadors accredited to Angola and head of the Palestine diplomatic mission, Najah Abdul Rahman, said that Angola is a factor of stability in Africa and the world.

The Palestinian diplomat, who was speaking at the New Year greetings ceremony organised by President João Lourenço, held at the Presidential Palace, highlighted the role of Angola in the promotion of peace in Southern Africa, the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) and the Great Lakes Region.

He went on to also emphasise the importance of reinforcing the ties among the different peoples of the world based on respect for sovereignty and independence and in the interest of a mutually advantageous co-operation.

He said the Diplomatic Corps values the efforts of the Angolan Head of State towards the consolidation of peace and national reconciliation.

The Palestinian official expressed the support of the Diplomatic Corps to the Angolan Executive in its determination to face the new challenges, especially in the fight against corruption, impunity and in the implementation of indispensable reforms.

He thanked Angola's position in regard to Palestine, which includes endorsing the defence for a Palestinian state to exist side-by-side with Israel, in peace and harmony as well as in respect for the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.

Najah Abdul Rahman advocated solid relations between both authorities (Palestinian and Angolan), with the involvement of entrepreneurs, aiming for the materialisation of a beneficial relationship for the two sides.

Meanwhile, the ambassadors of Brazil, Israel and China, respectively Paulino de Carvalho Neto, Oren Rozenbblat, and Cui Aimin, speaking to journalists reaffirmed the interest to strengthen the co-operation with Angola and contribute to the African country's economic diversification process.
