(MENAFN) Laos has registered 38 deaths in road crashes in five days of the New Year celebration.
Police statistics revealed that up to 38 people have been killed as 256 were wounded in 187 road collisions across the country during the New Year celebration, with the majority of accidents taking place due to driving under the affect of alcohol and speeding.
The statistics were taken during the five days from Dec. 28, 2018 to Jan. 1, 2019 and observed by the Traffic Police Department under the Lao Ministry of Public Security.
Furthermore, at least 323 vehicles were affected in the accidents.
