Sri Lanka: 52 people succumb to dengue virus


(MENAFN) The government information department declared that 52 people have been killed as at least 48,000 were infected by the dengue virus in Sri Lanka, till now.

The Epidemiology Unit confirmed that the highest score of dengue illness has been recorded in the capital Colombo District with more than 9,500 patients.

The second worst-disturbed district with over 5,400 patients was from the Gampaha District in the outskirts of the Colombo District followed by the Batticaloa District, in eastern Sri Lanka with over 4,700 patients.

Medical experts alerted people to receive immediate medical care if they sustained high fever, uncontrolled vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness and reduced urinary.
