Intelligence sharing eliminated over 23,000 terrorists in Iraq, Syria

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, Dec 17 (KUNA) -- Intelligence sharing among Iraq, Russia, Iran and Syria, which began in 2015, contributed to elimination of over 23,000 terrorists, Iraq's defense ministry said Monday.
The four countries established intelligence sharing center in September 2015, which provided the Iraqi and Syrian sides with 2,075 tip offs about so-called Islamic State (IS), the ministry added in a statement.
These intelligence tip offs contributed to elimination of 23,319 terrorists, including 430 IS field commanders, it said.
Russian airstrikes in Syria relied on information provided by the center, it said, thus destroying 200 command centers, 301 arms depots, 197 plants to build explosives and 170 hideouts.
The airstrikes also destroyed 73 tanks, 251 armored vehicles, 741 vehicles used by terrorists and seven hospitals. (end) ahh.bs
