(MENAFN) The Spanish National Police have captured 2,700 kilos of hashish in a raid conducted in the town of Ayamonte in the southwest of the country.
The police declared that the raid was launched after a tip-off from Portuguese authorities of a vessel travelling to the coast, apparently loaded with bags deployed by trafficking rings in the region to shift drugs.
The Spanish police spotted a "suspicious object" which was sailing "without lights and a low speed" to the coast of Ayamonte, which is close to the border between Spain and Portugal.
Although police called the object as a "12 meter boat with 3 outboard motors", they didn't block it instantly and followed it until it arrived at a land and the gang and "various individuals" started to unload its cargo.
