Industry heavyweights descend on Dubai for Global Islamic Economy Summit 2018 tomorrow

DUBAI, 29th October, 2018 (WAM) -- The Global Islamic Economy Summit, GIES 2018, will get underway tomorrow in Dubai, with the high-level event expected to attract the participation of 3,000 key decision makers, government officials, business leaders and industry experts from around the world.

Held under the patronage of His Highness sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and ruler of Dubai, the fourth edition of GIE 2018, will be held at Madinat Jumeirah.

New technologies that are fuelling the Fourth Industrial revolution will be a key theme of the summit, with the event putting the spotlight on blockchain, cryptocurrencies, digital identities and fintech and their impact on halal industries.

Other key sessions will examine the implications of China's Belt and Road initiative for Muslim countries in terms of trade, investment and economic partnerships, and take a closer look at important skills that are needed to ensure that youth become active participants in Islamic economy's future.

In addition, the winners of the Islamic Economy Award, the Islamic Creative Economy Competition, and the Global Islamic Business Awards will be honoured during the summit.
