Kuwait edge win over Lebanon to break record unbeaten run

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait ended Lebanon's record-breaking 16-match unbeaten run, edging a 1-0 football friendly victory at Al-Kuwait SC Stadium on Thursday.
Kuwait found it hard to break down Montenegrin head coach Miodrag Radulovic's well-organised side and only managed to break the deadlock late in the second half.
Midfielder Faisal Zayed struck a perfectly executed spot kick about three yards from the edge of the area, which rose above the wall landing to the right of Mehdi Khalil.
The Lebanese keeper was instrumental in limiting the scoreline up to that point, preventing a dangerous header which met a corner kick delivered by Kuwaiti talisman Bader Al-Mutawa early in the proceedings.
Meanwhile, a ceremony was held paying homage to the retiring Al-Salmiyah defender and Kuwait international Ahmad Al-Eidan as the curtains were drawn on a 13-year career.
Kuwait prepare to face an arguably tougher task when they host Australia on October 15. (end) fr.sd
