Qatar to introduce banking service platform for Fintech
(MENAFN) Qatar Central Bank (QCB) is ready to introduce a banking service platform to drive the rapid development of financial technology (Fintech).
The new banking service platform is to be launch before the end of this year, as declared the central bank's Governor H E Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud Al Thani.
The move is part of a broader plan to turn Qatar into a society with a knowledge hub, as well as becoming a regional center for advanced technology and services.
"There are big opportunities in Fintech... Today we are moving into an era where the banking sector (including the Shariah-compliant baking and financing services) is going to change- be its related to offering loans or doing other businesses," the governor stated.
Al Thani added "I think we are moving very quickly in this regard, and you will hear something before the end of this year."
