QDB's Tasdeer offers global paradigms to Qatari SMEs


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Qatar Development Bank's (QDB) Export Development and Promotion Department, ‘Tasdeer' hosted over the past months several trade missions and participated in a number of international exhibitions.
QDB said Tasdeer was able to promote exports from Qatar and enhance the presence of Qatari small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at global platforms through its activities.
In support of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and to enhance the growth potential of Qatari SMEs, QDB took part in Columbia Plast, which was held last September in Colombia.
As part of the special pavilion hosted by QDB, participating companies included Doha Plastic, Al Naqeeb Plastic Factory, Qatar Rubber, Bin Aman Plastic Industries, Hepworth PME, Al Haya Plastic, TWYLA Recycling, Al Rayyan Plastic Factory, Al Muftah Polymer, Al Muftah Fiber Glass, Al Sada Factory for Plastic Pipes, Al Sada Profile Factory, Qatar Polymer Industries, Gwalls, and SarplastQatar.
Furthermore, as part of its SMEs' growth drive, Tasdeer participated in World Food Moscow exhibition last month in Russia.
As part of the special pavilion hosted by QDB, SMEs representing Qatar were Qatar Meat Production Company, Agrico, Gulf Water Plant, Kaafe Chocolatier, IN-Q Factory & Company, Albina Snacks, Asak Group, Azbah Farm & Munah Foods Factory, Al Qaseem Dates & Raha Bakers, Al Sulaiteen Agricultural & Industrial Complex, United Mineral Water, Colosseum Doha, and Gulf Food Production.
Tasdeer also participated in the ‘12th Medical Fair Asia Singapore' and helped promote products of the following companies: Qatari German Medical Devices, Qatar Life Pharma, Shoura Business Group, Fine Posture, and Qatar Pharma.
In July and August, Tasdeer hosted successful trade missions to Australia and Ethiopia.
The volume of trade exchange between Qatar and Australia stood at nearly QR2.97bn in 2017. Similarly, Ethiopia's imports from Qatar stood at QR31mn in 2016, while Ethiopia's export to Qatar was valued at QR7.3mn.
QDB CEO Abdulaziz bin Nasser al-Khalifa said: 'Qatar's economic growth rests on the enhancement of SMEs and that's where QDB's active role lies. Qatar Development Bank has been strengthening the possibilities and prospects for Qatari SMEs and look out for global platforms to help them expand their reach.
'Our participation in several global exhibitions and trade shows of global levels offers our SMEs the much needed platform and confidence to showcase their product offerings to the global audience. We strive for their better future and work towards supporting Qatar National Vision 2030.
He added: 'QDB has always maintained a close relation with the Qatari SMEs and has been working towards their business enhancement since inception. Besides aiding them financially and assisting them with the right business developmental goals, QDB also ensures that they are a part of right platform to strike business deals.
Tasdeer executive director Hassan Khalifa al-Mansoori said: 'Tasdeer has been taking various measures for Qatari entrepreneurs to grow beyond their reach and we are well positioned to channelise their growth in the right direction.
'As part of our ongoing hunt for business opportunities that would enhance the reach of Qatari companies in the region and the world, our trade missions are perfect platforms for facilitating trade.
These platforms offer Qatari companies a valuable chance to connect and establish trade ties across local markets.
