KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: The cause of the fire that broke out in the building of the National Bank of Kuwait Museum in Sharq area last Wednesday was the welding work that was being carried out on the building exterior, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement issued by Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD), the Public Relations and Media Department of KFSD explained that the activities of the project on the exterior of the building were ongoing when the fire broke out and spread throughout the basement and ground floor.

Timely arrival of fire-fighters helped in controlling the fire. They used advanced technology to tackle the fire that spread in the basement. Following the operation, fire detectives immediately launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire.

They collected samples from the building, obtained records of the CCTV cameras installed at the location as well as relevant documents related to the project work, and held investigations with the laborers. They eventually concluded that sparks resulting from the welding work on the building exterior triggered the fire, causing to it spread throughout the ground fl oor and basement.
