Prisoner escapes after killing police guard in Zabul
(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): A Taliban prisoner snatched a Kalashnikov from a police guard and killed him and injured two others before making his escape good in the Shahr-i-Safa district of southern Zabul province on Sunday evening, an official said.
The militant, arrested a day earlier, was able to snatch gun from the policeman who was offering evening prayers, said Gul Islam Sayyal, the spokesman for Zabul governor. He said the injured included the Shahr-i-Safa district crime branch police chief.
The Taliban prisoner before escaping torched kitchen of the district headquarters. The gubernatorial spokesman said police were investigating the incident.
