Germany, Russia FMs to meet on Syria


(MENAFN) German and Russian foreign ministers were announced to be set for a meeting on September 14 over the situation in Syria.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas is set to discuss with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov methods to avoid a humanitarian crisis in the northwestern province of Idlib in Syria.

The German foreign minister affirmed the commitment of country's coalition government in playing a part for finding a political resolution on the matter.

The statement has been made on Wednesday by Maas while speaking to lawmakers at the parliament.

He added "on Friday, the Russian foreign minister will be here. I will tell him exactly the following: We are expecting from Russia to assume its responsibility to prevent a humanitarian disaster in Syria's Idlib."
