Oman- Muscat Gujarati Samaj's cooking competition enthralls audience
The event witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from MGS members, aptly living up to the reputation of Gujarati ladies possessing excellent culinary skills amongst the various other talents.
The event also showcased live demonstrations by renowned cook, Ekta Patel, of two her favourite, lip-smacking dishes. The demonstrations were televised live on the screen to enable the audience to take a close view of the intricacies of fine cooking.Enthusiastic participation was the limelight of the entire event. Each participant had put in tremendous creativity and efforts behind conceptualising and executing the preparation of the delectable delicacies of their choice that left the judges and audience in a state of awe, looking at the presentations of each one of them.
Understandably so, the judges who themselves were stalwarts in the in the field of cooking (Sujata Sheikh, Ami Toprani and Sanjeev Thakur) faced an extremely daunting task in selecting the final winners in all the two categories of the cooking competition, namely savoury and sweet.Amidst stiff competition, in the sweets category, Pankti Ramaiya took the first prize, followed by Jignyasu Divyes in the second position, Vaidehi Gandhi in the third position and Shivani Sheth in the fourth position. In the savoury category, the first prize went to Khushboo Joshi, second position to Leena Trivedi, third position to Kajal Shah and fourth position went to Deepa Bhatani. The first prize winners got a gold coin, followed by high-value home appliance for the remaining winners. Prizes were given away by Neeru Toprani, Rajendra Ved and Nilofer Tanna and Sushil Jani.
The event was held at the wonderful the Al Bahja Hall near Jungle Restaurant in Qurm and was witnessed by hardcore cookery enthusiasts as well as supportive family members of the participants. As always, an event of such magnanimity would not have been possible without the support of the sponsors like Golden Grains Trading, Khimji Megastore, Muscat Pharmacy, Sushil Jani and Suresh Tanna, New Indian Assurance and Malabar Gold.
