Maid pleads for help on social media after suffering abuse

(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Filipino maid in Saudi Arabia pleaded for help on social media after claiming she was beaten by her employer's brother. Gina Laulita Quiniones took to facebook , saying that on Sunday evening, she and her Filipina friend, who works for her employer's brother, were busy taking care of two children.

Quiniones said she was busy washing the dishes while her friend was making sandwiches for one of the children. Her friend said her ward claimed he saw Quiniones hurting his one-year-old cousin, who was on a walker, and was going to tell his uncle.

Quiniones denied hurting the child and said if she had, the child would have been crying.

The child's uncle then confronted Quiniones and asked her if she did hurt the youngster, and Quiniones said she did not. However, the uncle did not believe her and started beating her.

Quiniones uploaded pictures of her bruises and sought help from people online to share her post in the hope of being rescued.

Quiniones said her employer told her she cannot return to the Philippines since she is not yet finished her contract and she must pay 18,000 riyals (US$4,800). The employer also threatened that if Quiniones did leave, she would be her banned from entering Saudi Arabia again.
