NATO increases support to Jordan

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, July 11 (Petra) -- The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) announced that it is increasing its support to Jordan to counter terrorism.

RT TV channel quoted NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg while addressing journalists as saying: "We decided today to increase the support to Jordan and Tunisia to confront the threat of terrorism".

"NATO's goal is to strengthen the stability of partners to prevent crises and strengthen the alliance defenses when facing challenges with its southern neighbors," he said.

In April, NATO said, following a meeting of foreign ministers member states, it was committed to supporting Jordan and Tunisia, noting that it was considering working with Amman and Tunis in new areas, especially in border security, demining and security sector reform.
