(MENAFN) Saudi press agency reported Monday the Yemeni National Army to have regained control of a key road in western province of Taiz, south-west of Yemen.

Field commander of Bab Al-Mandab Abu Osama Al-Salhi announced "units of the brigade took control of the road leading to the area of Waza'iyah west of Taiz across the Wadi Al-Aqah area after a successful military operation."

The field commander further added in a statement that the Houthi militants have been hit with great losses.

The army forces on the front have commenced an attack on the positions of the group on the road and were capable of liberating the sites in which they were stationed, he stated in a statement the official Yemeni news agency cited.
