UNICEF chief condemns 'carnage' of 2,200 children amid Yemen war

(MENAFN) The UNICEF chief has expressed strong condemnation to the "carnage" of more than 2,200 children in the ongoing war in Yemen.

UNICEF executive director Henrietta Fore has warned that millions of other children are at the moment struggling with the anguish of the humanitarian crises in the country.

The statement has been made in Geneva by the chief while speaking to reporters after her trip to Yemen.

Fore stressed that "the relentless conflict in Yemen has pushed a country already on the brink deep into the abyss."

She also narrated her observation of "what three years of intense war after decades of underdevelopment and chronic global indifference can do to children."
