Qatar's Hassad Food to invest USD500m in Sudanese agriculture, food sector


(MENAFN) Qatari Hassad Food was reportedly planning for a USD500 million of investment in Sudan's agricultural and food sector over the upcoming three years.

Gulf Times reported the plan to have come after a deal was signed with a Sudanese firm on the agricultural and food cooperation.

The announcement has been made by Mohamed Al Sadah, chief executive officer of the wholly owned subsidiary of Qatar Investment Authority.

The CEO declared "over the next three years, we plan to invest about 500 million dollars in the Sudanese food sector, by entering into partnerships with a number of local Sudanese companies."

Qatar was said to be preserving its strategic relations with Sudan, as it provides support for the country on several issues, especially over Darfur region.
