Syria: 70 Nusra militants die in military attack
(MENAFN) The Russian Defense Ministry declared that 70 militants have died whe Syrian government soldiers and the Free Syrian Army, allied by the Russian Air Force, have resisted an attack by the Nusra Front in Syria's southern de-escalation area.
The ministry confirmed that the militants "lost three armored vehicles, 14 pickups with mounted machine guns and up to 70 people,", adding that the Syrian side reported no fatalities.
The Free Syrian Army, an informal resistance group, has recently backed the government soldiers in the battle against the Nusra Front, an offshoot of al-Qaeda.
