Iraq: KCK slams Turkey's Erdogan as "lie"

(MENAFN) The Executive Council Co-Presidency of Koma Civaken Kurdistan (KCK), or Group of Communities in Kurdistan, refuted on Friday the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's claim of killing several Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) leaders in a recent attack in Kurdistan Region's Qandil Mount, Bas News reported.

Erdogan, who is also the head of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), claimed during an election campaign, that his country's warplanes had targeted a meeting of the PKK leaders in Qandil, and killed 35 of them.

The KCK refuted in a statement, the allegation and said that it was part of the electoral campaign.

"The lie was prepared in the palace (presidential building) and it is their last propaganda for the election," reads the statement.

"Erdogan is trying to win the votes of the Kurds' enemies with such allegations, hoping that they won't be disproved in a few days ahead of the election," the statement continued.
