Myanmar restricts illegal fishing in Yangon river


(MENAFN) The Global New Light of Myanmar reported Wednesday Myanmar authorities to have imposed a ban on unlawful fishing in Yangon river.

The purpose of the fishing prohibition was explained to be avoiding the risk of the fishery sector to turn into a threat.

Fishing was confirmed to have been banned at the confluence of three rivers, which are Bago, Yangon and Hlaing rivers, down to the mouth of the sea.

The restriction is imposed from June to August and is aiming to lessen from overfishing in the Myanmar's sea.
