Israel kills 22 PMF fighters in Syria air strike: Washington

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Washington, June 19 (Petra) -- The United States accused Israel of carrying out an airstrike on Sunday on a border area east of Syria, leaving 22 Iraqi Popular Mobilization Front (PMF) fighters dead, according to sources.

The PMF Monday announced that the U.S.-Led International Coalition was behind the overnight raid.

These escalation happened just hours after Damascus said the international coalition on Sunday evening targeted one of its military posts in the border town of Heri in Deir ez-Zor. Both the Pentagon and the coalition denied the accusation.

An unidentified US official said that the U.S. was not behind the attack, adding that the Washinton had enough reasons to believe that Israel carried it out.
