World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018' kicks off in Bahrain


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, June 17 (KUNA) -- The World Heritage Young Professionals Forum 2018 on Sunday started at the Bahrain Fort Museum, Manama, Bahrain, under the theme "Protecting Heritage in an Ever-Changing World." Delegates from the Paris-based UNESCO World Heritage Centre, and more than 30 youth professionals from around the globe attended the opening ceremony.
The Forum that runs as far as June 26, aims to transmit the values of World Heritage, highlighting the potential that World Heritage education may have for facilitating sustainable development.
It is addressed to young professionals who are invited to reflect upon the complexity of preserving heritage in a constantly evolving world with the help of international experts.
Addressing the ceremony, Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA)'s Museums Director Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmad Al Khalifa, said that hosting the international event enhances the Kingdom's status as a regional and global center of civilization.
The Forum is held on the sidelines of the 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee Manama is hosting, 24 June to 4 July 2018, to be patronized by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. (end) hmd.msa
