Iran discuss with UN envoy proposals to create Syrian constitution cmte
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) TEHRAN, June 10 (KUNA) -- An Iranian official discussed on Sunday with visiting United Nations special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura proposals related to the formation of a Syrian constitution drafting committee and means to ensure its success.
Hossein Jaberi Ansari, foreign minister's senior assistant, presented to de Mistura his country's own suggestions on the matter, without revealing their contents.
However, speaking after the encounter, Ansari ensured that Tehran was assuming a "positive and productive" position towards resolving the Syrian conflict.
The UN official, for his part, welcomed the proposal as he urged the need for the resumption of multilateral coordination on the matter amongst the three influential countries in regards to the conflict, Iran, Turkey and Russia, Syria's government and its opposition and the UN. (end) mw.sd
