Lebanon receives reply from Syria on refugees, Law 10

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, June 4 (KUNA) -- Lebanon's Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil on Monday received a written reply from Syrian counterpart Walid Al-Muallem on Law 10, issued by Damascus to reorganize, reconstruct and develop Syrian areas destroyed by the war.
Some have attempted to distort housing Law 10, and exploit it for purposes that offend its major goal, namely guaranteeing "rights of all Syrians, both at home and abroad," Syrian ambassador to Lebanon Ali Ali said in a press statement after he handed the message over to Bassil.
The Syrian Constitution guarantees the right to property for all Syrians, he added. Law 10 does not threaten property, but offers a deadline to prove it, he added.
On the issue of refugees, Ali said that Al-Muallem's message offered assurances to the Lebanese foreign minister and answered all his inquiries. It also reaffirmed Syrian authorities' desire to have their citizens back to their arras.
On May 26, Bassil sent an inquiry message to Al-Muallem voicing concern about the potential "negative repercussions" of Law 10 Syria issued in April. (end) wsm.sam.msa
