Egypt extends Lebanese woman detention for 15 days

(MENAFN) An Egyptian court has renewed the detention of a Lebanese woman for a further 15 days pending an investigation into charges including insulting Egyptians.

On Saturday, Egypt's Prosecutor-General Nabil Sadek ordered the arrest of Lebanese tourist Mona Al-Mazbouh for four days pending investigations into charges of insulting and defaming the people of Egypt in a video that went viral online.

Mona el-Mazboh has been held since Thursday when she was arrested at Cairo airport at the end of her stay in Egypt after her outspoken video went viral on social media, security sources said.

During the video, Al-Mazbouh angrily referred to Egyptians as beggars and conmen, and described Egyptian women as "prostitutes."
