Israel launches airstrikes on Gaza targets amid ceasefire

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) GAZA, June 2 (KUNA) -- Israeli warplanes launched several raids on Palestinian armed faction locations throughout Gaza leading to losses described as "material," according to multiple Palestinian reports.
The airstrikes, launched by F-16 fighter jets, tagetted four locations in Rafah, Khan Yunis and spots in eastern and central Gaza with fires erupting thereafter, the reports mentioned.
Earlier, Israeli military struck a target in the Gaza Strip's eastern border regions with artillery, but no casualties were reported.
The raids were in retaliation for a rocket attack, Israel said, was launched on its military base in the border town of Kissifum.
The strikes come in spite of an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire deal struck with Palestinian armed movements, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, earlier in the week. (end) wab.sd
