Kuwait- Cabinet orders KRCS, KRC to provide aid to Yemen's Socotra


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 27 (KUNA) -- The cabinet has tasked the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) and the Kuwait Relief Society (KRC) with offering relief aid to the Yemeni Island of Socotra which has been recently hit by a cyclone.
The cabinet held a meeting at Seif Palace Sunday chaired by Acting Prime Minister and Defense Minister sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Minister of Finance Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf offered the meeting a presentation on the second periodical report on implementing the National Strategy, prepared by the National Committee for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing in 2017.
The National Committee was entrusted with following up the implementation of the strategy to promote money combating systems in line with the best relevant international practices, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh.
Al-Hajraf apprised the ministers of the recent report by Fitch Ratings on Kuwait for 2018. The agency affirmed its rating for Kuwait's sovereign wealth funds in 2017 at AA with a stable outlook, Al-Saleh added. The rating showed continued confidence of international financial circles in Kuwait's financial position, Al-Hajraf said.
The cabinet tasked the Public Institution for Social Security (PIFSS), in coordination with the Ministry of Health, Kuwait Municipality and the Secretariat General of Supreme Council for Planning and Development, with studying the Kuwait Medical City project.
The ministers were briefed on recommendation by the parliament public services committee on a report by the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW) on removing a host of barriers regarding the project of South Saad Al Abdullah City, in line with the authority's implementation timetable, taking into consideration measures of safety, security and environment. The Cabinet tasked the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs & Fish Resources (PAAFR), in coordination with the Ministry of Finance and other relevant bodies, with speeding up finalizing measures for the relocation of the poultry farms from South Saad Al-Abdullah City to the alternative location.
Meanwhile, the cabinet congratulated Usama Humoud Al-Otaibi on being elected chairman of the Kuwaiti Municipal Council, and Abdullah Abdulaziz Al-Mehri deputy chairman, wishing them success in fulfilling their massive responsibilities and serving the nation.
The ministers expressed their condolences and sympathy to the family of Saud Faisal Al-Musallam who drowned while on a diving trip near Qaruh Island last Friday.
The cabinet lauded the great efforts exerted by the Interior Ministry's Coast Guard, and divers from the Kuwaiti Army and other agencies, as well as the Saudi Coast Guard and volunteers, who took part in the search for Al-Musallam.
Then the cabinet reviewed the National Assembly affairs and the topic on the parliament's agenda.
Reviewing the political developments on the Arab and the international scenes, the ministers denounced the recent terrorist attack on a mosque in western Algeria, which left many killed or wounded.
The cabinet expressed Kuwait's solidarity and sympathy with Oman and Yemen in the aftermath of the enormous material losses and devastation caused by Cyclone Mekunu that recently hit the two nations.
The ministers condemned a recent terrorist explosion that hit central Benghazi in Libya, killing and injuring several people.
They also condemned the suicide attacks that targeted Al-Shuala area, north of Baghdad, and the terrorist attack that hit Kandahar, southern Afghanistan. Both killed and wounded many people.
The cabinet reiterated Kuwait's firm stance rejecting all forms of terrorism, regardless of motives. (end) hm.msa
